One morning when I woke up and did my regular routine of visiting the ladies room, what do I see while I'm in there, except for a blurry, tired face in the mirror (blurry because I still had not put in my contacts)? Well, a huge, black, disgusting, annoying spider of course! For those of you who know me VERY well also know that spiders does not go under the category of "Desirée's Favorite Things".
At my mormor's house (mothers mom) when I was little, she used to have this large painting and on top of the right hand corner of the frame was a LARGE spider made out of brown pipe cleaners. Why she kept it there is still unknown to me. Why she STILL, to this day, keps it there is also unknown. Well, this spider freaked me out and everytime I went into that room and walked by that painting and the monster sitting on its frame, I would shiver. My dad and my younger brother knew about this fear of mine and of course they thought it was hilarious, so they would take down that "thing" and tease me with it... Euwww!! I can still remember it! On top of that, my mormor had another spider in her house, and that was actually a "toy spider" kind of. A large plastic black widow kind. Disgusting as well. almost worse than the one made out of pipe cleaners. So, one time while all my cousins were gathered at mormor's house and we had a great time, someone (I can't remember who it was) decided to take that black monster and throw it at me. What happened then was, I left everything I had in my hands and ran to another room and did not go back in there that day, or the next. Too bad though, since my barbie doll was still in there and to get it I had to pass the spider still laying on the floor.
Going back to the spider in the bathroom. I didn't take care of it. Nope, just couldn't do it. I went uptairs and made breakfast and coffee and when Ann-Britt heard about my spider downstairs she went straight down there and took care of it! Haha! I felt so embarressed, but you know, when you have kind of fobia it's not easy! For somebody who was born and rasied in Africa, however, ithat 1,5 inch size spider was just like a piece of cake!
Thank you Ann-Britt!
